Why not ChatGPT?
Think about it: how would you chat with your database on ChatGPT?You'd have to somehow copy-paste all the information in those tables, which you probably don't have easy access to.Doesn't seem very convenient, does it.And then you'd have to somehow run the right SQL code on those tables.Clearly, ChatGPT is not a viable alternative.
How does ClaireVue compare to PowerBI?
PowerBI has a feature allowing users to chat with the report they're currently looking at.And with that report only. You can't chat with your entire database.Between you and me, I've never liked PowerBI. Too heavy and clunky.In fact, our belief at ClaireVue is that dashboards are a thing of the past.The world is going dashboardless and we're here to lead the way.

Claire - Under the Hood
At its core, Claire is a text-to-sql engine.
Through trial and error, we found that the following were key ingredients for good text-to-sql performance in the business setting:
1. A good understanding of the specific business context, including the purpose of the business, the business model - and a good thesaurus.
2. A thorough description of the database schema, including column descriptions (for ALL the columns) and table relationships.
3. Some examples. Even a few examples can make a world of difference in performance.
Additionally, we've equiped Claire with context memory, allowing you to have a continuous chat. Claire will know when to run a SQL query, and when not to.
In fact, you can think of Claire as your Business Intelligence manager. Behind the scenes, she can delegate some technical tasks to her Team Lead.

In a way, the seed for ClaireVue was planted in 2014.
Back then, I was working in the reporting department of Intact Insurance, the biggest P&C insurer in Canada at the time.
We were maintaining dozens of reports for upper management and creating new ones all the time. A single report or dashboard would take weeks to build, and a couple more to debug.
I remember thinking: there has to be a better way. And I don't want to spend my life building reports either!
Why can't we just give the VPs access to the data (ALL the data) and let them ask their questions directly? Turn weeks into minutes.
Obviously back then, we didn't have Large Language Models. We had Excel and a thing called PowerPivot (a surprisingly underestimated tool if you ask me) and I did build a prototype allowing executives to explore big datasets.
But it didn't stick. The learning curve was still too high and the solution was not flexible enough.
Fast forward 10 years. I'm now freelancing as an AI consultant, and I get two back-to-back projects from CEOs in totally unrelated industries, asking me to build them a chatbot that would allow their stakeholders to interrogate the backend databases using natural language.
Both of these businesses already had sophisticated dashboards. Yet that was not enough. Many questions could not be answered. Because dashboards are limited by design.
ClaireVue was born out of the acknowledgement of two universal pain points for business leaders that we finally have the right tools to address:1. There's too much data, too many reports, too many dashboards. It's overwhelming.
2. Getting an answer to a business question from the data is excruciatingly slow.
